Heredero is researching the relationship between the Festival and the New Spanish Cinema of the 1960s, Fernández is studying the historical presence of animated films at the Festival and García López is focusing on the influence of the International Film Schools Conference on events such as May ‘68.

Under this new brand, a kind of classical film festival was born, extended in time and space, bringing together three pre-existing programmes: the Basque Film Arcive’s Spring season, the Festival classic retrospective and its Klasikoak section. La clase magistral tuvo lugar en la sala Z de Tabakalera el 21 de septiembre de 2021.   James Mockoski zinema-artxibozain eta American Zoetrope konpainiako zaharberritze-arduradunak Francis Ford Coppola zinemagilearen filmekin egin duen lana azaldu zuen Donostia Zinemaldiko 69. edizioan. His masterclass took place in Tabakalera Z Room on September 21 2021.

La conversación con la cineasta versó sobre los desafíos que afronta una directora en Afganistán y sobre el propio cine de su país. The conversation focused on the challenges faced by a female director in Afghanistan and on her country’s cinema. Wolf and Sheep (2016), Sadat’s debut film, was selected and awarded at the Cannes Directors' Fortnight. Its sequel, The Orphanage, was also an award winner (2019).

De 2009 a 2017 trabajó para el brazo audiovisual del Grupo Zeta y a lo largo de su carrera ha producido más de 50 películas y programas de televisión. La conversación online tuvo lugar en la 68ª edición del Festival de San Sebastián (2020) y contó con la ayuda de Europa Creativa MEDIA Desk Euskadi. He later ed Amazon Studios, but his talk in San Sebastian coincided with his return to independent production. His masterclass was organized with the collaboration of Creative Europe MEDIA and General Direction of Cultural Industries, Intellectual Property and Cooperation (ICC).

Además de ganar el Premio Goya al mejor sonido en cinco ocasiones, ha trabajado con directores como J.A. Bayona, Pedro Almodóvar, Daniel Monzón o Jaume Balagueró. En su intervención, que formó parte de Zinemaldia & Technology y tuvo el apoyo de Europa Creativa MEDIA, habló de la evolución de la tecnología del sonido y el proceso de creación de una banda sonora en función de su formato de reproducción.   Ikus-entzunezko soinua: jatorritik Full Immersive-raino izena izan zuen Marc Ortsek Donostia Zinemaldiko 68. edizioan online eginiko eskola magistralak. He has won the Goya Award for Best Sound five times and has worked for directors such as J.A. Bayona, Pedro Almodóvar, Daniel Monzón or Jaume Balagueró. His talk looked at the evolution of sound technology and the process of creating a soundtrack depending on its reproduction format. The talk was part of the Zinemaldia & Technology initiative and it had the backing of Creative Europe MEDIA.

Tort trabaja habitualmente con el cineasta Albert Serra y su última colaboración, Tourment sur les îles / Pacifiction (2022), le valió el Premio César a la mejor fotografía. 2023ko irailaren 29an, Donostia Zinemaldiaren 71. edizioan antolatutako hizketaldien barruan, Artur Tort  argazkigintza-eta muntaketa-lanari buruz mintzatu zen Tabakalerako zinema-aretoan. Tortek Albert Serra zinemagilearekin lan egin ohi du, eta biek elkarlanean egindako azken obrak (Tourment sur les îles / Pacifiction, 2022) argazki onenaren César Saria eraman zuen. Sirvió para celebrar, por un lado, el 40º aniversario del estreno en el Festival de Vestida de azul (1983), un documental de Antonio Giménez Rico que recoge las experiencias de mujeres trans durante la Transición, y por otro, el estreno de la segunda temporada de la serie Veneno, basada en aquel filme. En la cita participaron el activista Julen Zabala, el guionista Ian de la Rosa, la actriz Lola Rodríguez y Nacha, una de las seis mujeres trans que protagonizaron Vestida de azul. Vestida de azul:  1983ko Zinemaldiko trans oroimena eta aktibismoa izenburua izan zuen topaketa egin zen Donostia Zinemaldiaren 71. Edizioan, Tabakalerako Z aretoan, 2023ko irailaren 28an. Williams is Executive Director at Creative Diversity Network and has been working for more than 30 years in television, cinema and the theatre, as well as on policy design in the cultural and creative industries in general; she designed the BFI diversity standards and the equality analysis process at the Arts Council England. 

Gaztelania / Castellano / Spanish El 25 de septiembre de 2023 tuvo lugar en la sala de cine de Tabakalera el encuentro de las y los estudiantes de Nest con Christian Petzold, el cineasta alemán que compitió en la Sección Oficial con Phoenix (2014) y logró el Premio FIPRESCI. En su regreso a San Sebastián en la 71ª edición, no sólo presentó en Perlak la película Roter Himmel / Afire (El cielo rojo) tras ganar el Gran Premio del Jurado en la Berlinale, sino que también ejerció de miembro del Jurado Oficial.  2023ko irailaren 25ean, Nesteko ikasleak Christian Petzoldekin elkartu ziren Tabakalerako zinema-aretoan. Zinemagile germaniarra Phoenix (2014) filmarekin lehiatu zen Sail Ofizialean eta FIPRESCI saria eskuratu zuen. 71. edizioan Donostiara itzuli zen eta Berlinalen Epaimahaiaren Sari Nagusia irabazi zuen Roter Himmel / Afire filma Perlak sailean aurkezteaz gain, epaimahai ofizialeko kide ere izan zen. On 25 September 2023, the Nest students met at the Tabakalera cinema with Christian Petzold, the German filmmaker who was in the Official Selection with Phoenix (2014) and won the FIPRESCI Award. Returning to San Sebastian for the 71st edition, he not only presented his film Red Sky / Afire in the Perlak section, after winning the Grand Jury Prize at the Berlinale. He was also a member of the Official Jury.

Castellano / Gaztelania / Spanish Minerva Campos, Violeta Kovacsics y Aida Vallejo son las tres nuevas investigadoras que estos días han disfrutado de la segunda convocatoria de las becas José Ángel Herrero-Velarde. Por un lado, Campos investiga la relación del Festival con la Federación Internacional de Asociaciones de Productores de Cine, la FIAPF; por otro, Kovacsics explora el cine de la Transición y los retos y dificultades que atravesaba en aquellos años el certamen donostiarra; y finalmente, Vallejo se centra en la historia sociocultural del Festival a través del análisis de los espacios en los que se desarrolla. On the one hand, Campos is researching the Festival's relationship with the International Federation of Film Producers' Associations, the FIAPF; on the other, Kovacsics is exploring the cinema of the Transition and the challenges and difficulties faced by the event in those years; and finally, Vallejo is focusing on the socio-cultural history of the Festival by analysing the spaces in which it is held.

Avilés presentó en New Directors su primera película, La camarista / The Chambermaid (2018), y este año ha sido presidenta del jurado del Premio Nest The Mediapro Studio de la 71ª edición del Festival de San Sebastián. 2023ko irailaren 28an, Lila Avilés zinemagile mexikarrak eskola magistrala eskaini zuen Tabakalerako zinema-aretoan. Bertan aurkeztu zuen Horizontes Latinos sailean programatutako Totem, bere bigarren film luzea, aurretik Berlinalen lehiatu zena. La película tuvo su estreno mundial en la sección U.S. Dramatic Competition de Sundance y en su fase de proyecto formó parte del programa de residencias Ikusmira Berriak. 2023ko irailaren 26an, Raven Jacksonek eskola magistrala eman zuen Tabakalerako zinema-aretoan. On 26 September 2023, the Tabakalera Cinema hosted a masterclass by Raven Jackson. The American director, who participated in Nest in 2018 with her short film Nettles, returned to San Sebastian to present her feature film debut, All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt at the 71st edition of the Festival. The film had its world premiere in the US Dramatic Competition section at Sundance and was part of the Ikusmira Berriak residency programme during its project phase.
