Giving voices to Black and Brown LGBTQIA Families w/Allen R. Wells Allen R. Wells is a ionate author, engineer, and advocate dedicated to advancing inclusion and representation in children’s literature. Hailing from Jackson, Mississippi, Allen’s love for storytelling was sparked early on by a second-grade teacher who introduced him to journaling—a simple yet powerful act that ignited his lifelong commitment to creating stories that uplift and empower young readers. A proud graduate of Tennessee State University, Allen earned his degree in Architectural Engineering and has since built a successful career as a mechanical design engineer, specializing in building systems. He seamlessly blends the precision of engineering with the imagination of storytelling, bringing both creativity and clarity to all that he does. Allen’s writing centers on creating safe, imaginative spaces for children and young adults, especially those from underrepresented communities. His stories celebrate diversity, nurture empathy, and encourage readers to embrace their individuality. Among his acclaimed works are It’s Pride, Baby!—a joyful tribute to LGBTQIA+ Pride for young readers—and Danté Plays His Blues, a moving tale of resilience and hope as a young boy navigates housing insecurity through the power of music. When he's not writing or deg, Allen enjoys exploring the outdoors, traveling, and engaging with readers at events and workshops. Through every story he tells, Allen strives to inspire and empower the next generation—one page at a time. Allen R.
