The best of John Lennon (The Beatles 2003)
Episodio en The Beatles. New albums (unreleased) 1970-1984
John Lennon began his career as a songwriter and singer at the age of 15, forming the band The Quarrymen in 1956, which later became The Beatles in 1960. He released his first single, "Love Me Do," in 1962, reaching number 17 in the British charts. Since then, his songs have been considered hits, composing "protest songs" like "Revolution," introspective songs like "Nowhere Man," "Help," and "Instant Karma," and iconic songs like "All You Need Is Love" and "Imagine," which express his pacifist ideas. He temporarily retired from the music scene in 1975 to raise his young son, Sean, but reemerged in 1980 with a new album, "Wheels go round". In December of that same year, Lennon was shot five times by Mark David Chapman at the age of 40. Lennon is responsible for 25 number-one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100. His album sales in the United States have reached 14 million units. The inner light, Spiritual songs of George Harrison (The Beatles 2002)
Episodio en The Beatles. New albums (unreleased) 1970-1984
Since his stay in India in 1965 with The Beatles, Harrison also had a special interest in Hindu culture and religion through the Hare Krishna movement and introduced his fellow Beatles to Eastern philosophy through the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who was instrumental in the group's musical evolution since the recording of The White Album. His interest in Hindu culture would formally expand when he embraced Hinduism. On a pilgrimage with his wife Pattie to India between The Beatles' last tour in 1966 and the start of the recordings of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Harrison took sitar lessons, met several gurus and visited sacred sites, thus becoming more familiar with Eastern culture. Until his death in 2001, George Harrison never forgot this part of his life and always included, to a greater or lesser extent, philosophical and spiritual themes in all his albums, showing the world his thoughts and his way of seeing life from a personal and spiritual point of view. After Harrison's death, his family issued the following statement: "He left this world as he lived: conscious of God, unafraid of death and at peace, surrounded by family and friends." Harrison would sometimes say: "Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot; love one another." In 2002, as a tribute after his death, The Beatles published a double album that collected 27 spiritual songs by Harrison, from "Love you to" published in 1966, to "Any road" in 2002, the album covers 35 years of music where Harrison tries to show his way of walking spiritually in life. DISC ONE A Awaiting on you all My sweet Lord That’s what it takes Dear one Heading for the light Love comes to everyone The inner light B Any road Isn’t it a pity Love you to Art of dying Just for today Living in the material world Stuck inside a cloud DISC TWO A What is life The Lord loves the one (that loves the Lord) Life itself Rising sun The answer’s at the end Within you whitout you Hear me Lord B Brainwashed Beware of darkness That wich I have lost All things must It is ‘He’ (Jai Sri Krishna) Learning how to love you

Free bird over UK (The Beatles, 1995)
Episodio en The Beatles. New albums (unreleased) 1970-1984
After Lennon's death and the release of the posthumous album "Those Years Ago" in 1984 (https://youtu.be/C5hCg7pNm7M), The Beatles stopped composing, but, 11 years later, despite rumours of dissolution, Paul, George and Ringo decided to return to the studio and release a new album in 1995 entitled (Free bird over UK). For the album they rescued two songs by Lennon, "Free as a bird" and "Real love", transforming the demos into two songs that would be the last ones published by John Lennon. The rest of the songs are great songs by Paul and George, very elaborate from a musical point of view, and which make up a very homogeneous LP with a very structured "Beatle sound", being at the top of the sales charts for several weeks in the USA and UK. The long wait by The Beatles fans would make this album one of the best-selling of the group. The singles "Free as a bird"/"Only love remains", "My brave face"/"this is love" and "Got my mind set on you"/"C'mon people" would reach number 1. The songs "My brave face" and "When we was fab" refer to the group's golden age, being a tribute to Lennon, symbolized on the album cover as the free bird that gives it its name. Those years ago (The Beatles, 1984)
Episodio en The Beatles. New albums (unreleased) 1970-1984
Following the murder of John Lennon in December 1980, and the publication of "Wheels go round" (https://youtu.be/LqyhAPMj3XU), the rest of the of The Beatles decided to isolate themselves from the music scene for three years. Finally, in 1984, they decided to work on an album that would mark the final dissolution of the group, using recordings of Lennon made before his death. The album, called "All Those Years Ago", features two songs dedicated to John: "All Those Years Ago" by Harrison and "Here Today" by McCartney. Eagerly awaited by all their fans, the album was number 1 in sales in America and Europe for several weeks, despite lacking the quality of previous works. The first two singles "Nobody Told Me/Life Itself" and "Pipes of Peace/Wake Up My Love" reached number one in the British and American charts. The posthumous single "All Those Years Ago/Here Today" also remained at the top of the charts for several weeks. After this album, Paul, George and Ringo decide to end The Beatles brand and continue their solo careers. Wheels go round (The Beatles, 1980)
Episodio en The Beatles. New albums (unreleased) 1970-1984
Two years after the release of "Pause to play" (https://youtu.be/Je3yDuyJc24), The Beatles decided to work on a new album that would be released in November 1980. Lennon decided to return to music and came back in style leading the group with four great songs that are the best of the album, called "Wheels go round" in reference to the song "Watching the wheels", a satire of the criticism received for his dedication to family life. The album reached number one in the best charts in Europe and America. The first two singles from the album, both by Lennon, "(Just like) Starting over/Not guilty" and "Woman/Goodnight tonight", would reach number 1 in the British and American charts. McCartney continued his prolific life as a composer with 5 very commercial songs, and, although the single "Coming up/Faster" reached number 1 in the USA, it did not do so in the UK. The fourth single "Blow away/Waterfalls" also did not reach number 1 in the charts. It is, however, a great album, led on this occasion by Lennon's high musical quality, and will be ed because it was the last LP he worked on, as he would be murdered a month after its publication, and because it was the first work in which Ringo Starr did not manage to introduce any song. (This playlist features fictitious albums that could have been released if the Beatles had not broken up in 1970. Pause to play (The Beatles, 1978)
Episodio en The Beatles. New albums (unreleased) 1970-1984
After the release of Beatles Hall in 1975 (https://youtu.be/BDESygo2638), John Lennon decided to temporarily retire from musical composition and devote himself to family life. Despite this, The Beatles decided to release a new album in 1978 entitled "Pause to play", with the musical leadership of Paul and George and with very discreet from Lennon, who introduced only two songs, achieving a tremendously elaborate LP from a musical point of view and reminiscent of the Beatle sound of the last works of the 60s. The first two singles "Silly love songs/Learning how to love you" and "Mull of Kintyre/Going down of love" reached number 1 in the American and British charts. However, "Crackerbox palace/Let'em in" did not reach number one in any country. Lennon's decision to take a break from his work within the band marks this Beatles album, which becomes unique within the group's discography due to the specific weight of McCartney and Harrison and because it will be the last time a Ringo song appears on a Beatles LP. Playlist A 1. Woman don’t you cry for me (Harrison) 2. London town (McCartney) 3. This song (Harrison) 4. Going down on love (Lennon) 5. Beautiful girl (Harrison) 6. Let’em in (McCartney) 7. Beatles Hall (The Beatles, 1975)
Episodio en The Beatles. New albums (unreleased) 1970-1984
After the success of "Get Songs" (https://youtu.be/Nz-2J1upDDA), The Beatles entered a period in which their compositional quality decreased, possibly in part due to the appearance of other great pop-rock bands that would also dominate the 70s (Led Zeppelin, BeeGees, Pink Floyd, Queen,...). In 1975 they released the album "Beatles Hall" with 13 great songs that carried the "Beatle sound", and reached number one in United States, United Kingdom and other countries such as and Canada, selling several million copies and being certified triple platinum in both the United States and the United Kingdom. The first single "Listen to What the Man Said/Ding Dong, Ding Dong" reached number 1 in the British and North American charts. "Whatever Gets You Thru The Night/You're sixteen" also reached number 1 in the USA, although not in the UK. The third single "You/Letting go" had a discreet reception, being the first single by The Beatles not to reach the top three. In "Beatles Hall", Lennon begins to distance himself from music and takes refuge in his personal life, thus obtaining the lowest quality songs of his entire musical career. McCartney makes songs with a more commercial background and Harrison, perhaps the most committed to maintaining the Beatle sound, maintains his line of work from previous albums, with elaborate songs and good melodies. The song Ringo is one of the best of his musical career. (This playlist features fictitious albums that could have been released if the Beatles had not broken up in 1970. Get songs (The Beatles, 1973)
Episodio en The Beatles. New albums (unreleased) 1970-1984
After the success of the LP "Only sky" (https://youtu.be/TiYKiCtRP50), The Beatles continued together as a band, forgot their personal and musical differences and published a new and great album in November 1973, "Get songs", as a reminder of "Let it be", which was going to be called "Get back", meaning to their fans that they only want to dedicate themselves to writing songs. The album was several weeks as the best-selling album in the UK and USA, obtaining triple platinum. Their single "Band on the run/Mind games" reached number 1 on the US Billboard. Their second single "Happy Xmas (War is over)/Photograph" did not reach the top of the charts but it went down in musical history as a great Christmas song, and it marks the entry of Yoko Ono as a vocalist with The Beatles (Linda McCartney already did it in "Reborn" (https://youtu.be/_uAn4iw_Tu8) and "Only sky"). The singles "Live and let die/Woman is the nigger of the world" and "Give me love/Cold Turkey" also positioned themselves as number 1 on the charts. "Get songs" musically follows "Only sky", and is also one of the best albums by The Beatles. Lennon and McCartney offer great musical compositions, with a very elaborate style and very similar orchestral arrangements. Harrison's three songs are of a high musical quality, offering his already known spiritual aspect of his music. Ringo's song is one of the best of his career. "Get songs" represents a great LP by The Beatles before entering a small and transitory musical decline.......... Only sky (The Beatles, 1971)
Episodio en The Beatles. New albums (unreleased) 1970-1984
After the album "Reborn" (https://youtu.be/_uAn4iw_Tu8), The Beatles decided to release a new album in October 1971, titled "Only sky" in reference to their main song Imagine. His singles "Imagine/I'd have you any time" and "Uncle Albert/All things must " reached number 1 on American charts. It is one of The Beatles' best albums, with Harrison maintaining the quality achieved in "Reborn" in his songs, McCartney returning to his great musical compositions and Lennon managing to unite his magnificent protest lyrics to great orchestral arrangements not seen in last album. With no doubt, one of The Beatles' Top5 LPs (This playlist features fictitious albums that could have been released if the Beatles had not broken up in 1970. Reborn (The Beatles, 1970)
Episodio en The Beatles. New albums (unreleased) 1970-1984
After the release of "Let it be", the Beatles reunited in July 1970 at Abbey Road studio to fix their problems, publishing the album "Reborn" in December 1970. One of the consequences of the problems overcome is that, starting with "Reborn", the authorship of the songs was no longer shared, so the Lennon/McCartney musical partnership that emerged in 1962 came to an end. In this new album, Harrison gets four songs after the success of his themes on "Abbey Road, being at that moment the best musician of the four fab. Differences between John and Paul probably had an impact on the quality of their songs. The first single "My sweet Lord/" reached number 1 on the American and British charts. "Power to the people/Junk" and "Maybe I'm amazed/Isn't it a pity" were the next singles to be released, although didn't reach top of charts. Lennon and McCartney probably suffered from the differences arosed in recent years and their songs were not as elaborate from a musical point of view as in the sixties, so, in "Reborn", Harrison took his place as the group's musical leader, with high quality in his songs. (This playlist features fictitious albums that could have been released if the Beatles had not broken up in 1970.
