Ep 12 – How to Sell Your Role Playing Game: The Business of Games Design
Hey folks – this week we have a continuation of last week’s interview with T. Julian Bell. Last time you found out about the RAEX system, and this time we hear from Julian’s experience in getting games published and sold. If you’re an aspiring games designer, or even if you’ve been in the industry a little while, you should find something interesting here. Julian gives us his thoughts on Kickstarter too and his plans to use the platform for their current project. Later in the Podcast we also have a recording Grant and Colin made after a Warhammer Fantasy battle a few weeks back. They give a short battle report and what they think went right and wrong during the game. Hear how Grant thinks he misused his multiple demon princes! Colin, Grant and Joe are all practicing for the Battle Brothers tournament in Warhammer world in September, so if any of you might be there, let us know. It’d be great to meet up and have a beer. In other news, Colin chats briefly about XCom: Enemy Unknown – his attempt to get nostalgic and the old Amiga days – and he gives a quick update on recent games of Eternal Contenders. We’ve been trying to play a few different games online recently, using Google Hangouts and the Roll 20 system, but haven’t found anything perfect so far. We’d love your on what you use to play remote games. What have you found that works well? We’d love to know – please drop a comment below. Ep 11 – Talking to RAEX Games About Kromore 2145, a New Cyber Steam Role Playing Game (RPG)
In this episode Colin’s talking to T. Julian Bell from RAEX Games. They’re soon releasing a new setting for their RAEX gaming system called Kromore 2145, a Cyber-Steam setting as they call it. It’ll be coming out in Q1 2014. You can try out an abridged version of the game in the meantime though – there’s free public version of their Core Rulebook available on the RAEX games website. In the interview Julian takes us through the RAEX system and tells us his thoughts on game design, and how to make an engaging game. Here are a couple of links to find out a bit more information on both Julian and RAEX Games, and make sure to look out for the Kromore 2145 Kickstarter when it releases later this month. This is actually only part 1 of the interview – Julian and I had a pretty long chat! Part 2 will be released soon and is all around how to go about setting yourself up as a pro games designer. Julian tells us his tips and tricks for getting into the games industry, getting a producer and getting yourself published. Make sure to check back for that in the next episode. In the meantime enjoy the interview! Episode Guide: 00:10 to 15:00 – Colin, Grant and Julian talk about their thoughts on the RAEX System. 15:00 to 1:00:04 – I nterview with T.
