Welcome to the Finding Your Place podcast - a series about the college experience made by college students for college students. In this episode, we dare to ask a question that many of you are wondering about: why do you have to take all of these general education courses? Our producer team chats about the good and bad of their gen ed experiences, and then Producer Monte Brown reflects on a general education course that ended up having a huge impact on the way he saw himself as an African-American man and a scholar. Music composed and performed by Marcus Bagala from his 2018 album, Materials. Used with permission. Please his work at www.marcusbagala.com. The Finding Your Place Podcast Series has been created with the of Minnesota State "Shark Tank" grant funding for innovation in higher education. Many thanks also to our colleagues and mentors at Century College, Minnesota State University Mankato, The Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University and Minnesota Public Radio. 12f6x
